Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 17, 2026

ProdGuard is designed with a strict local-first privacy model. This policy explains exactly what data is processed, where it is processed, and why.

Information Collection

ProdGuard does not collect personal data.

  • No personal information is collected.
  • No browsing history is collected.
  • No keystrokes are collected.
  • No usage analytics are collected.
  • No telemetry is collected.
  • No data is sold.
  • No data is shared with third parties.
  • No data is transmitted to ProdGuard servers.

In short: ProdGuard operates with zero telemetry.

Local Storage and Processing

All protection logic and user configuration are handled locally in the browser.

  • Configuration data is stored only with chrome.storage.local.
  • Protected selectors and environment settings remain on the user's device.
  • Click interception and warning modal behavior run entirely client-side.
  • Stored configuration data never leaves the browser as part of normal extension use.

Permissions Required and Justification

ProdGuard requests browser permissions only to provide its safety features.

Host Permissions (http://*/*, https://*/*)

These permissions are used only to:

  • Read page DOM structure needed to match user-configured selectors.
  • Inject the warning/confirmation modal into supported web pages.
  • Block accidental clicks on protected elements before the action executes.

ProdGuard does not use host permissions for tracking, profiling, or collecting browsing data.

Other Operational Permissions

  • storage: Save user settings locally via chrome.storage.local.
  • tabs: Detect the current tab context to apply site-specific protection state.
  • alarms: Perform scheduled premium license validation checks.

Third-Party Services (Premium Licenses)

ProdGuard communicates with a third party only for Premium license verification.

  • Service: Lemon Squeezy License API.
  • Purpose: Validate or revalidate a Premium license key.
  • Scope: License status only.

ProdGuard does not associate user browsing activity with payment identity. Your site navigation data is not sent to Lemon Squeezy as part of license validation.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product, legal, or operational changes.

  • The latest version will always be published on this page.
  • The "Last updated" date will indicate the effective revision.
